Ah, memories

Junior year. So many memories. Being in a bit of a hurry preparing for senior year (actually, just preparing for one senior year class ::cough:: APSE ::cough) I probably won't talk too much. However, I was cleaning out--well, cleaning off my desk today for pretty much the first time since Junior Year started and various items i found in the layers of papers, pens, and odds and ends made me remember some of the past a bit. Of those items:

Leftover photo order forms
Have some from Tennis this year, badminton, and Junior Prom. It's somewhat sad as I probably won't be able to join the tennis team my senior year due to HSHP stuff. Junior Prom was...interesting. I think I was a bit too stressed during it as I spent some time fuming that SOMEone was about an hour and a half late coming to my house and that by the time we got there, the food was cold and kinda icky. Ah well. Hopefully Senior Ball will be better. The order forms also reminded me of the Senior Pics I have to pick up tomorrow.
HSHP stuff
I have sooooo much leftover stuff from this: my bright green penned rough draft for admissions essay, various app forms, a booklet about "introducing the university" or something like that. Also, is a neat-o gold binder with a bunch of stuff I BETTER not lose as i'll need it next year and I haven't bothered to memorize my id number which they seem to need for everything. HSHP should be interesting. I'm worried though--if i get a C- or fail any course, I get kicked out of the program :-(
CD's of various music and one burned one
These were used for my Honors American Lit class group presentations where we acted out a scene from "Death of a Salesman". English was great--not just the class as the class was kinda just a bit below expectations--but because of all the people in it. The people made the class great and is probably the main reason I do these advanced English courses. I mean, I'm not too good at English and am not much of an English person...I just like to read...for FUN...not to analyse archetypes and universal themes and heroic journies and things like that. But the ppl...they make the class such a stimulating and interesting place, which I love. However, the backside of this is that I often feel intimidated because all the other ppl are so smart and I'm afraid to speak out a lot of the time...especially since things ALWAYS sound better in my head than out loud...ALWAYS. It's a rule. But English is still good and I'm expecting APSE to be very fun, though very challenging.
Pages and Pages of Chem and Math scratchwork
Most...almost all of these pages had to do with my studying for the SAT II. I feel like I spent soo much of my time studying for them...and now that they're over, it feels almost empty. I feel like I wasted my time in a way--squadering my teenage years studying for multiple choice tests--but in the end, it's not like I really had that much to do anyway. If not study, I probably would've wasted time watching TV or surfing...But i wish I had had more time to get out this past year. I mean, not to say that the studying hadn't paid off--because it had...big time, but I... I guess what I'm saying is that I'm no longer sure if "losing" the time spent studying was worth the score. But i'm really happy about what I got, so I guess these are kinda hypocritical musings. Ah well...
Pages and pages of APUSH notes
whew! and these are just the ones too messy/informal to make it into the binder. Ah, APUSH...I'll carry memories of THAT for awhile...at least until my first killer college history course drives it out of my mind. But still, it was a great class...like I thought Honors Am. Lit was suppose to be--challenging, but informative. It had, more or less, the same great group of people in it that makes honors classes fun, but more...educational, IMO, than Honors Am. Lit was. Also more fun. Dunno how that happened, but it did. The last Lego Bull Run/Manasas video Angelina, Cynthia and I made was great. And making it was probably the best part. Wish I could do more of that...maybe in the future or something...but I'm never much of a do-it-yourself person. I have to have other people come up with ideas and TELL me to do them before I can really take over. Guess spontaneous creativity just isn't one of my strong points. arrg! why do i suck so much at using my brain?!?! work brain! work! ah well. now to move on before i get depressed about my lack of creativity...
1 Pops Concert program
Wow. It's over...and some people actually like it. Pops concerts at our school seem to get worse every year in terms of last-minute-ness. We always end up staying at school until 10 or 11 pm the week before opening night. This year, we pretty much started real rehersals just three weeks before the show opened, so stayed late every day for the last two weeks. Crazy stuff. Makes me not sure I want to be as involved with it next year. Ah well. But it's still a fun, bonding experience for all us that have to suffer. Just wish there was *slightly* better payback. They don't care much for the needs of short people unless they're in Mads ::grumble:: Nick w/ his idiotic short people in back policy ::grumble::. Hopefully, next year will be better...
two 2peso coins and one bag of suvoniors from Mexico, 4 boxes of differnt cold/allergy medications, 1 box of advil
Believe it or not, all these are connected. I got the things from from Mexico during our fun fun annual choir tour. Unfortunately, I caught a HORRIBLE cold/sickness thing on the cruise and couldn't enjoy most of it :-(. It only got worse when i got home...hence all the medications. I was probably drugged for a week and a half after my return. Also, after I came back, I missed my first day of school probably in all of high school due to illness. It was that bad. My parents agreed to it because I had a high fever...but part of it was my wishing I had a high enough fever to stay home because i felt HORRIBLE. Thus, I took my temperature a few times until i got the result i wanted... Usually, I stay well enough, only getting the usual colds and allergies so I don't have to miss school. Also, I don't tend to get better faster when I stay home, so i usually just tough it out at school. My main challenge during these times used to be PE, as the stupid school uniforms don't have pockets where I could keep tissues and running the mile with a cold and runny nose isn't fun, but now that i don't have to take PE anymore, i don't worry about it. Nonetheness, THIS sickness was enough to take me down. Worst part was, it was close to AP exam cram time and i felt really bad about missing "important" school, but felt worse about having to get up. Also, for the two days back I took Comtrex, which made me REALLY sleepy...i pretty much just slept, ate, and went to the restroom for two days. When i went back to school, and almost fell asleep 50 thousand times, I got off the Comtrex and tried DayQuill. I had tried Benadryl before, but it did nothing. DayQuill kinda helped, but sometimes hurt to swallow. Ditto with Alka-Seltzer Plus. So all in all it was a horrible experience and I filled TWO 13 gallon garbance bags with my compressed tissues. Halluah for tissues. That's another thing I want to talk about---all teachers should have 1 to 2 boxes of tissues for their students. My first week back, people stared at me for bringing my own BIG FAT box of tissues to school with me, but for me, IT WAS WORTH IT!!! go tissues. Plus, the school kind was kinda coarse...better than nothing though...which was what some teachers have. Thus, my insurance--my own box of tissues.

Well, THAT is quite enough of my ramblings for now, and quite enough time spent on this when I should be reading Oedipus at Colonus, so i'll get back to my Junior Year memories later. Now, i'm just grateful that I am no longer sick and that I can see more than 50% of the surface of my desk! Yay! Go cleaning. I finally found my graphing calculator calc to calc link too. ^_^ Go me.

Driving Lesson

Had a very interesting driving lesson today. Started out circling the parking lot as usual. Then I went out of the parking lot and onto the long, circle road connecting all the parking lots in the college. Then I TRIED to turn back into my original lot. Lots of emphasis on "tried". Kinda didn't turn wide enough and hit the curb with a big BANG!. Then circled a bit more, tried to park and then get out of the spot right without going into the other lines that would have cars in them if the lot was full. Then went on the road again. I'm really good at left turns...but when i tried to turn right back into the parking lot again, BANG!. Arrg...So afterward, my dad somehow got it into his head that I could try to drive to my cousin's house from Cal State Hayward. As i was going up the hill reeeaaallly slowly, I realized that I should've put my seat foreward more because I couldn't reach the gas pedal all the way to go faster. Also, during that short trip was the first and second times I encountered stoplights. Um...the first one I was suppose to turn right, but couldn't see a triangle block separating the lanes becasue the sun was in my eye and ALMOST ran into that thing. The second light I was slowing down at, but then my dad said to go on faster (it was yellow), but by the time I was just into the intersection, it was red. ^_^; whoops. Ah well. So then I'm going up slowly, which was okay...until the two lanes merged into one...then this car was following me and my dad told me to take the next right and find someplace to park there so the car could pass us. So I turned right into this little residential place and tried to park by the curb. Well, I'd never practiced parking like that before so WHOOPH! i hit the curb and had to get off the sidewalk with another WHOOPH! Um...Dad wasn't too happy about that...said he got a mini heart attack and that his transmission was probably shot now....well, I'd only made the car bounce 4 times...that's not THAT bad right? Yeah, so interesting driving lesson. Rest of the day did work, sleep, watch TV, eat, and go on a short walk as dictated by my mother. She is turning into a semi-new age nut. Ah well. It wouldn't be so bad if she stopped playing the chanting 24/7...especially when I'm trying my best to read through Billy Budd, which is hard enough to understand w/out hearing chanting nuns in the background. Tis life, though i guess and it could be worse--it could be those "learning Chinese" tapes she used to try to get me to watch. I hate seeing huge lips on TV pronouncing things over and over and over again...and that lady had ugly lipstick too....::shudder:: Luckily, those days are long gone as we don't use bo po mo foh anymore and use pinging instead. Educational videos seldom help.
